EVALUATION:

Hospitality services evaluation of PIZZA task:

1.Define what you understand as a healthy, ‘balanced meal’ using one or more of the ‘food models’ you have investigated ( Diet pyramid, healthy eating plate etc.)
- I understand that a having a balanced, nutritious meal filled with healthy foods will ensure that you are healthy from inside out. The body needs nutrition to function well. Therefore, following a good diet is very important. A balanced meal consists of a combination of various nutritious foods the body requires to maintain good health. This diet revolves around the balanced diet plate showing the five main types of food. The 5 main types of foods you need a day is Brea, cereals, rice, pasta and noodles or vegetables and legumes or fruit or milk, yogurt and cheese or lean meat, fish, poultry, eggs and nuts.

2.Explain why you made the food choices for your Pizza meal. (This can be for nutritional content, time, facilities available in kitchen, your skill level, appearance of final meal etc.)
-I made my food choices for my pizza meal because I was going for a healthy balanced meal trying to get the five main types of food. With “Milly’s Cheesy, Greeny pizza”, it was designed in such a way that it that I managed to fit a bit of everything on my pizza and it blended well! A lot of thought went into the nutritional content of this meal and the final appearance. The content in my pizza fitted all the requirements for a balanced/healthy meal such as it consisting of protein, dairy, gluten vegetables and fruit as shown in this table.

Food Group: Food in the group consisting on the pizza:
- Protein - Chicken & Pine nuts
- Dairy - Cheese: Cheddar, feta & parmesan
- Gluten - Pizza base
- Vegetables - Spinach, fresh basil & rocket
- Fruit - Cherry tomatoes.

3.Discuss how well you think you executed this task. (This can include any problems you encountered, your time management, general organization, safety, final product satisfaction etc.)
- I personally think that I executed this task very well and I was satisfied with the result, kept my time management under control and I was very organized! When cooking in the kitchen I feel very under control and relaxed and feel that I know what I’m doing and that I’m enjoying myself a lot! This assessment was absolutely fantastic and I’m very happy with the result of my pizza and how it tuned out to be a healthy well managed balanced meal. My general organization was very thought through like had first prepared my ingredients to put on the pizza, put then on the pizza very carefully, put my pizza in the oven and then in the time period when my pizza was cooking I cleaned up my dishes and everything was clean and my pizza was ready just in time for the bell. Problems I encountered in was being a bit unsafe as Mrs. Baker pointed out that my shoe lase was undone at the start and also I put to much baking paper on the tin for the oven, which could have a very dangerous end result. I also had encountered some problems when I had ordered a slight bit to much food for my pizza toppings I had Parmesan chees, pine nuts and feta cheese left over. I will never order to much food again in hospitality because I realized I had to put it in the bin because my hands had touched it and I was really ashamed because I knew I had just wasted good quality food! But over all my pizza was absolutely healthy but delicious.

4. What have you learned about yourself from this task?
- Through this task I have learnt a lot about myself in all sorts of ways. Firstly I have realized that I really need to start balancing my diet because I’m haven’t been very healthy lately and after studying about balanced diets I really do think I need to change my life style and my eating choices. This task has also really changed my idea of what balanced diet is and what Australia’s guide to healthy eating really is, because I have never studied this. I am so glad I had the chance to learn new things from this task and I am so happy about my end result.

5. What would you do differently next time?
If I could go back and do it again I would defiantly redo my pizza because I would wont to put less greens on it, I did overflow the pizza a bit because I ordered to much ingredients and was trying to fill it up and use the food. Next time I would also order less and make sure that my measurements are correct and I know that I wont have food left over. Last but not least I would like to be more careful and safe with my actions in the kitchen because I could have put myself or someone else in danger and that’s the last thing I would wont to happen.

Thank-you for this lovely opportunity, I loved it!

Class 9:

Finally the day has come where we got to do our cooking assessment! It was sooo much fun I loved it so much, being able to have the opportunity to be able to learn and cook a balanced meal! This was very big enjoyment and highlight of my day☺

I was very prepared I cut up all my toppings first laid them all out.
Then spread the tomato paste onto the pizza base.
Placed all the toppings on layer by layer very neatly and put the pizza on a baking tray into the oven.
I cleaned up all my cooking utensils and chopping boards and waited for 20minutes for my pizza to cook!

My pizza was READY! It was defiantly a very well cooked balanced pizza meal. Hopefully Mrs. Baker realizes how satisfying it tasted, my taste buds bursted and the feeling of having a lite healthy meal!

Class 8:

yesss!!! this will have to be my favourite meal I'm soooo happy Mrs Baker chose scones for us to cook because i have never actually cooked them myself. after we had watched the demonstration collected our food and then got a partner (Bella). Bella and i where so excited and jumped straight into it:) we found everything pretty easy except for kneading the dough was difficult! we thought we had stuffed it up but lucky Mrs Goodchild helped us. the scones were absolutely amazing and quite simple to make!

Class 7:

im was so excited to go cook but it wasn't a prac lesson today it was theory in our class room! today Mrs Baker let us catch up on blogs and make sure were up to date on everything and she also introduced us in more content to what is expected to be handed in to her next friday and is on our blogs. she said the evaluation is very important and the way we explain why our pizza are a balanced meal. so in this lesson i thin i got a lot of progress done but not enough to finish so i better start getting busy now!

Class 5:

this is my first attempt and fist time to try Macaroni and cheese! i was with bella again for todays cooking class:) i had zoo much fun making the white sauce while with bella, while keeping a close watch on the macaroni pasta boiling! For the first bella and i cleaned up as we went and it helped a lot. we finished on time and made it easy you the next class! i didn't really like the macaroni and cheese as much as the other stuff we have made. but i had fun making it so thats all that counts!

Class 4:

APPLLEEEE CRUMBBLLEEE TODAY! today was such a fun lesson and we got to make my favourite dessert apple crumble! we did the same procedure but i was with Bella we got our aprons and watch the demonstration and started to make the crumble and heat the apples. the apple peeling was very time consuming so i wish we had done that faster so once agin we had more time to clean up so we weren't rushing around to get tot the next class! but the end result was beautiful i was so glad and i was probably the best apple crumble i have ever tasted!!!:)

Class 3:

yay! today we got to cook potato in its jacket with Vietnamese coleslaw! the lesson started of with us all putting on our aprons and listening to Mrs Baker's demonstration of the recipe. i was in a partner with georgia, we then had to collect all of our equipment and start preparing to cook. we slice and diced and cooked and baked and cleaned! in the end the tato in its jacket with Vietnamese coleslaw was delicious and a very balanced/healthy meal. it was delicuous! i loved it i decided I'm going to make it for lunch on saturday for my whole family :) i think next georgia and i really need to be quicker in making the meal so were not running late to the next lesson and so we have time to clean up!

Class 2:

The lesson started of with Mrs Baker telling us about logging in to a on guard website on blackboard. Onguard is were we have to complete safety tests! she then told us we had some training to do about safety. We all had to hope onto blackboard and start working on 5 onguard tests fro the rest of the lesson! i only got through two so i have 4 to do for homework tonight. Otherwise if i don't complete them by next lesson i won't be able to cook!
